Pre-Assembly Lunch & Learn

Join us for a Pre-Assembly Lunch & Learn (Zoom) as we explore Mission Responsibility Through Investment (MRTI) and its connection to our Assembly theme, “Faithful Friction: Eradicating Systemic Poverty.”

MRTI is the PC(USA)’s ministry of faith-based investing—engaging corporations and financial systems in ways that reflect our values and advance justice. This gathering offers a meaningful introduction to how the church has faithfully used its investments as a tool for change over decades.

We are delighted to welcome Simon Doong and Katie Carter (Read Bios here) from the Associates for Corporate, Community & Church Engagement, Office of Faith-Based Investing & Shareholder Engagement, who will guide our conversation.

Together, we’ll explore:

  • What MRTI is and how it works

  • How our investments connect to the work of eradicating systemic poverty

  • How individuals, congregations, and presbyteries can engage faithfully and proactively with their financial resources

As we prepare for Assembly—where we will examine our own investments in our presbytery, churches, and personal lives—this conversation will help ground us. Talking about money can spark “faithful friction,” and MRTI offers a model for engaging that tension with purpose, courage, and hope.

We especially encourage treasurers, finance committee chairs, stewardship leaders, and endowment trustees to attend.

Grab your lunch, log in, and join us as we discover how stewardship and justice intersect through faith-based investing.

All are welcome!

Mission Responsibility Through Investment (MRTI) was created in recognition of the PC(USA)'s unique opportunity to advance its mission faithfully and creatively through the financial resources entrusted it. MRTI implements the General Assembly’s policies on socially responsible investing (also called faith-based investing) by engaging corporations in which the church owns stock.
